Brzezinski-Scorese employ choreographed movement and repurposed household objects to explore the boundaries of nontraditional intimacy. Domicile is a continuation of that foray by responding to popular practices of newlywed nesting, Enlightenment theories of domesticating “wild” terrain, and the unusual Early Modern practice of picnicking outside with indoor furniture. Brzezinksi-Scorese unravel the tensions between how intimacy is expressed versus how it is experienced by appropriating the gestus of Western “Romance.”Domicile is a delicate dance rooting our relationships in what feels natural and conjuring boundaries, borders, and dynamic stillness to close the distance between us.
